The annual diocesan choir competitions took place on Saturday 13th September 2014 in the Christ the Redeemer Hall. The event was very well supported, with seventeen archdeaconry choirs taking part and a large audience present throughout the long day, supporting all the performers enthusiastically.

Ten choirs participated in the Standard section, and seven choirs in the Large section. Each choir performed in five categories.

Male voice double quartets from both sections performed Thembela ku Thixo by Celebration Ntungwa, and female voices from both sections performed Lift Thine Eyes from Mendelssohn's Elijah. The psalm for the Standard section was Psalm 67 with a two part chant, while the Large section had Psalm 98 to a one part chant. The prescribed piece for the Standard section was The Marvellous Work from Haydn's Creation, and the prescribed piece for the Large section was Ngcwele from Sibisi's Zulu Mass. All choirs sang their own choice of hymn for their final performance.

The adjudicators commented on the overall high standard, and the nearly five hundred choristers who participated are to be congratulated on their commitment.
