St Cecilia's Day
The archdeaconry choirs and the diocesan choir celebrated St Cecilia's Day on 22nd November 2014, opening with a eucharist service conducted by the bishop. During the service the choirs sang Ngcwele from the Zulu Mass in B in place of the usual Sanctus. After the service family members of the late Thandeka Gaula gathered to record her name in the book of remembrance. The recently elected members of the executive committee were then formally installed by the Bishop.
The massed female voices performed Lift Thine Eyes by Mendelssohn, followed by the massed male voices performaing Tembela. Each choir then sang an assigned hymn.
